‘Mobilegeddon’ is hear! Mobilize your Site By 4/21 or Disappear Never to Be Found

April 21 Is Your Last Chance for Mobile Optimization Before ‘Mobilegeddon’

Don’t panic, there is still time for us to help.

According to Google:

“Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results.”

According to Entrepreneur  Magazine, Aside from a “mobile-friendly” tag associated with various sites in mobile search results, it hasn’t been entirely clear which factors Google considers when calculating mobile rankings or how many sites (or which ones) are currently affected. Because of this, many business owners have postponed or avoided optimizing their sites for mobile devices, and have survived to tell about it.

Starting April 21, that’s all going to change.

Scope of the update

If you’re aware that Google already considers mobile usability as part of its ranking calculations, you might wonder why this April 21 deadline, dubbed “mobilegeddon,” is important.

It’s true that many of Google’s “updates” are actually just data refreshes and tweaks that hold little bearing on existing search rankings. However, Zineb Ait Bahajji, a member of Google’s Webmaster Trends team, was quoted at SMX Munich as saying that the new mobile-friendly algorithm change will have more of an impact on search rankings than either Panda or Penguin, two of the largest and most impactful search algorithm updates Google has ever launched.

Mobile Alerts for Conference Calls and Meetings

A majority of the articles we write are related to mobile marketing and how you can leverage mobile in your favor to promote your brand, product, or service. However, mobile offers so much more than just the power to market directly to the hands of your subscribers. You can also use mobile to improve communication within your company and encourage more participation and input from your employees and coworkers. The great thing about this is that there are a number of different ways you can choose to do this.

The first thing you want to remember is that over 90% of text messages are read by recipients within 3 minutes of delivery. This means that if you want to get in touch with a particular person, or a particular group of people, mobile messaging is the quickest and most effective way to do this. People have a tendency to become preoccupied with whatever they are doing and may not check their emails or answer their phones when they are busy, yet they will still read and respond to text messages. So if you are wanting to announce an impromptu meeting or conference call, sending a text message to the desired participants is your best bet at getting the attendance and participation you are wanting. Employees and coworkers will receive your messages in real-time, wherever they may be, and will respond and react.

You can also encourage active participation and engagement from your attendees by setting up a mobile alerts program which will allow attendees to send and receive text messages about things happening during the meeting, conference call, or event. You can also set up a display screen, or even multiple screens, in which participants can send messages and images to so that it broadcasts to the entire event. This will dramatically increase participation and engagement from your employees and coworkers and will ultimately result in much more productive and effective meetings and conference calls. When everyone is participating, things get done!

Once you have concluded your event, you can also choose to get some feedback from the participants using your mobile platform. Text surveys and polls can be sent to attendees afterwards and their responses can be collected, tabulated, and utilized for future adjustments and improvements. Not only that, but your participants will take note of this and feel like their opinion matters and is being heard. This grows employee morale and ultimately leads to a much more productive and happy company.

The beauty of everything we just talked about is that it is simple and easy! It does not take much effort to set up a mobile alerts program for your company, and once it has been implemented, it is even easier to run! Stop having ineffective meetings and conference calls. Implement a mobile alerts program into your company today and reap the benefits!

Benefits of Going Mobile for Businesses | 3 BIG Reasons

In 2011, smartphone and tablet shipments finally surpassed that of PCs, over 900,000 Android devices are activated everyday, and the take rate of the iPad is literally the fastest ever documented in the electronics industry’s history. It has become vividly clear that the world has gone mobile, and anyone, anything, and any business that is unaware of the benefits of going mobile will inevitably fail and fall by the wayside.

So we know that the rest of the world has gone mobile, but has your business? In order to plug into today’s digital landscape, businesses NEED to go mobile in order to survive. So this shouldn’t be a difficult decision to make at all. In fact, there really should be no decision. If you want your business to survive and thrive in today’s world, you MUST go mobile. To better illustrate this, we have compiled a list of the 3 biggest benefits you and your business will experience once you finally decide to join the rest of the party.

Productivity Will Increase

Going mobile will essentially unchain you, your employees, and your colleagues from your desks. Mobile tools and cloud-based services such as Box, Dropbox, and Google Drive all allow you to send and receive files and documents regardless of where you may be. This allows for faster and more efficient communication within your company as well as with outside clients and potential customers.

There are also several mobile apps such as Evernote, Seesmic, and Chatter that allow for productivity while being on the go. These apps, along with many others, create the ability for businesses to more easily manage each and every facet of their business from a single, centralized location. That location, of course, being a mobile device. A recent report states that 7 in 10 small businesses are currently using mobile apps to run their companies more efficiently, are you one of them?

Connectivity Will Improve

With the advent of mobile-enabled services such as RingCentral, business employees and business owners can now manage every aspect of their business on the road, on the beach, on an airplane, and virtually anywhere and everywhere in between. The owner of Platinum Express Limousines, Octavio Carillo, commented about RingCentral, “It’s got everything built into it: you can send faxes, you can receive faxes, your voice messaging system is on there, you can listen to them, play them, send them somewhere, delete them…”

RingCentral’s Cloud Touch platform allows complete control over your business’ phone system using any mobile device. It has smart presence features and will seamlessly integrate with the file-storage services like Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, and others.

Your Employees Will Love You

Up to this point, you have seen how going mobile can benefit businesses on a number of levels. The biggest benefit, however, is the reaction you will get from your employees once they realize how much easier conducting business is using mobile devices, services, and apps. Going mobile also allows your employees to work remotely from your office. This is, of course, something that would have to be allowed by you or the owner of the business, but a recent study conducted by Stanford University has shown that productivity actually rose 12% among workers who worked from home. The researchers also noticed that attrition diminished considerably among the remote workers and noted that, generally speaking, people who worked from home were much happier and, most importantly, more committed to their jobs!

Going mobile will allow you to untether your employees from their desks and give them the opportunity to work in a mobile, on the go environment. When everyone has a mobile device with high capabilities, it only makes sense to take advantage of them. No other medium allows you and your employees and colleagues to communicate via email, fax, voice, and text all on one device, in REAL-time!

The benefits of going mobile are REAL and several companies can vouch for its success. If you and your company have not yet taken advantage of the mobile revolution, then now would be as good a time as ever! Plug into the mobile revolution today before it leaves you and your company behind!
